Elena Fumagalli is an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering in the Economics and Industrial Engineering Department of the Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy.

Her research activity focuses on two subjects: service quality regulation in the electricity distribution and retail sectors, and competition in the electricity wholesale markets. She is the author of a number of publications on both subjects.

She works also as a consultant for the Italian regulatory authority for electricity and gas and she participated in three EU Twinning Projects, in Lithuania, Turkey and Ukraine.

She received a Laurea degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano in 1997 and a Ph.D. degree in Energy Studies from the University of Padova (Padova, Italy) in 2002.
